Major Achievements by Nepali Cricket

Now days cricket is very popular among people. Every body want to play cricket & every body watch cricket game. People are crazy about cricket. Nepal is also doing very good in the field of cricket. Here is some information about the Nepali cricket history & achievements year wise.

1920s –Cricket game is introduced in Nepal by Ranas who returned after studying in India and England.

1946 — Cricket Association was formed.

1961 — Cricket Association became part of the National Sports Council.

1988 – Cricket Association of Nepal got Affiliate membership of the International Cricket Council.

1996 — Cricket Association of Nepal got associate membership of the International Cricket Council

1996 — National team played for the first time, in the ACC trophy in Kuala Lumpur (finished 4th). Nepal beat Brunei and Japan.

1998 – Cricket Association of Nepal hosted ACC trophy at Kritipur grounds but Nepal didn’t win any match.

2000 — U-19 team finished 4th in U-19 world cup. Nepal senior team reached semi finals of ACC trophy

2001 – Nepali team participated in the ICC TROPHY for the first and, to date, only time. (Defeated Germany and Gibraltar)

2001 – Highest team score: 175/9 against Germany, Maple Leaf Cricket Club, King City, Ontario, Canada. (ICC TROPHY)

2001 – Highest individual score: 52 by Dipendra Chaudhary against Germany, Maple Leaf Cricket Club, King City, Ontario, Canada. (ICC TROPHY)

2001 – Best innings bowling: 4/23 by Parash Luniya against Germany, Maple Leaf Cricket Club, King City, Ontario, Canada. (ICC TROPHY)

2002 – Nepali team finished as runner up in ACC trophy

2003 –Highest team score: 397/8 against Bhutan, Kathmandu.

2003 – Nepal hosted and won the ACC Emerging Nations Tournament

2004 –Nepal played first class cricket for the first time in Intercontinental Cup. Nepal defeated Malaysia but didn’t reach semi final.

2004 — Nepal finished fifth in ACC trophy

2005 – Nepal beat the UAE and drew with Hong Kong in the ICC Intercontinental Cup, but missed out on qualification for the semi-finals by half a point

2005 – Nepal finished as runners-up to the UAE in the ACC Fast Track Nations Tournament

2005 –Highest individual score: 108 by Mahaboob Alam against Malaysia, Kathmandu,

2006 –Nepal played Namibia in a play-off match to decide the final team in the ICC intercontinental cup (didn’t qualify)

2006 – Nepal toured Pakistan, playing against the Pakistan Cricket Academy

2006 – Nepal finished fourth in the ACC trophy but won ACC premiere league.

2007 – Nepal become Semi finalist in ACC 20-20 cup

2008 –Nepal lost their semi-final in division 5 crickets to lose a chance to play 2011 cricket world cup.

2008 – Best innings bowling: 10/12 by Mahaboob Alam against Mozambique, Jersey,

2008 –Nepal finished fourth in ACC trophy

2008 –Nepal women cricket team defeated Malaysia by seven wickets to clinch the first ACC Under-19 Women’s Championship

2009 –Nepal finished fifth in ACC 20-20 cup

2010 –Nepal finished as runner-up in ACC trophy

2010 –Neplal won first major tournament defeating USA in WCL division five.

2010 –Nepali girls defended the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship title defeating Bhutan by five wickets
